Sunday Day 1-
We arrive at the airport where we go through all the normal airport procedures and wait for our plane to arrive and begin boarding passengers. We board the plane and take off where we wait for 3 hours until our arrival to San Diego. Once we arrive we are greeted with nice warm weather and sunshine, which is definitely a nice change of pace from cold and cloudy. We take a cab to the Half Moon Inn where we settle down and rest up for Monday.
Monday Day 2-
Everyone wakes up and gets ready for our first performance on our 8 day trip. Once everyone is ready we hop in our cabs and head to High Tech High. Upon arrival we are greeted by the Dean of Students and taken to High Tech High International. We have lunch with the Dean and a few students and share a few raps. They take us on a tour of the whole school, which has 3 separate buildings, and take us back to High Tech High International were we set up our sound system and have a great performance. After the performance we pack up and a few of us head back to the hotel and the rest stay for a second performance.
Tuesday Day 3-
We check out of our hotel and get on our rented coach bus for the first time, driven by one of the coolest coach bus driver ever, John. We head back to High Tech High, meet with the owner of the school, and have another great performance. We pack up and head to Los Angeles. Once we arrive we check in to the Radison and crash for the night.
Wednesday Day 4-
We wake up and head to the University of Southern California where we attend the Grammy Camp. At one of the events we met Roshon Fegan from The Disney Channel’s Shake It Up. Afterwards we head back to the hotel for a little downtime and then go to Venice Beach for some fun. After Venice Beach we head to one of our advisor’s good friend’s restaurant and eat good. We finish up with a visit to the Beverly Hills mall and then go back to our hotel for sleep.
Thursday Day 5-
We depart the hotel to go to Gertz-Ressler High School and do another great performance. Afterwards a few of our performers are interviewed and we take off to a TV production studio called Flight 33 where a friend of another advisor works. We got to see clips of some of their shows such as Life After People, The Universe, Distant Shore, and a few others. We then head off to the Hollywood walk of stars and explore for a little over an hour and then hit the road to San Francisco. We check into the Holiday Inn & Suites and rest up for the next day.
Friday Day 6-
On this particular day we are split into two groups and have two separate performances, one at Metwest High School and the other at Mercy High School. We regroup and have a final performance at UC Berkeley. We head back to the hotel and rest up for the night.
Saturday Day 7-
We wake up and chill for awhile while the teachers decide what to do. Our original plan to visit Alcatraz was canceled and moved to Sunday because the tickets were sold out for Saturday. They decide we should go to downtown San Francisco where the chinese new year festival was taking place. We arrive there where we were free to wander for a few hours. We met up, hopped on the BART back to the hotel, and crashed for the night.
Sunday Day 8-
We wake up and pack our bags for good this time. We hop on the coach bus and head to Pier 39 for the ferry to Alcatraz. Once we arrive at Alcatraz we are free to wander once again. Everyone ends up taking the audio tour of the prison and we meet up to head back to land. We had a little time to kill so once we boarded the bus for the last time we toured around San Francisco for a bit and eventually arrived at the airport. The bus driver could only drive until a certain time so we ended up waiting at the airport for a few hours. We hopped on the plane and bid farewell to California. Once we were back in the twin cities I parted ways with everyone while everyone else went back to the school.
